MOW & MEADOW

Affiliate disclosure

How this site makes money, in plain language, with nothing left in the small print.

By Sawyer V.Published Last updated

Mow & Meadow is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

In plain language: if you click a buy link on this site and purchase something, we may receive a commission from the retailer. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going there directly — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.

Every buy link on this site routes through /go/, a redirect on our own domain that adds our affiliate tag and sends you to the retailer. We do this so that a change of retailer or program is a configuration change rather than a rewrite of a hundred pages.

  • Our Amazon Associates tracking ID is mowandmeadow-20.
  • Every affiliate link carries rel="sponsored nofollow", as Google's link policies require.
  • Every buy button is labeled #ad with a link back to this page.
  • The /go/ redirect is marked noindex and refuses any destination that is not a recognized merchant.

Amazon is currently the only retailer we have an affiliate relationship with. Links to manufacturer product pages -- which appear throughout the site as spec sources -- earn us nothing and exist purely so you can verify our figures.

Every specification citation on this site links to a manufacturer's own product page. Those are not affiliate links and we earn nothing from them. They are there so you can check our arithmetic against the source.

What we do not accept

  1. Free products. None, ever. We have not been sent any of the equipment on this site and would not accept it.
  2. Sponsored placements. No manufacturer has paid to appear here and none can.
  3. Payment for inclusion or ranking. Not offered, not available.
  4. Pre-publication review. No brand has ever seen a page on this site before it published.

Commission does not decide rankings

This is the part that matters, and it is easy to check rather than take on trust. Several pages on this site rank a cheaper product above a more expensive one:

Buyer-first beats commission, every time. If the honest recommendation is the cheaper product, or no product at all, that is what the page says.

About the prices you see

Prices on this site come from a live check, not from numbers typed into a page. Each carries the date it was last verified — currently January 1, 1970. Anything older than 48 hours is removed automatically and the page falls back to "check price" rather than showing you something stale.

We never print a remembered or estimated price. If a product has no verified live price, the button says so. Prices and availability at the retailer are accurate as of the time shown and are subject to change; the price displayed at checkout is the price that applies.

A related disclosure

Not strictly an affiliate matter, but it belongs on the same page as everything else you should know before trusting a recommendation here: we have not tested any of the products on this site. Every spec is compiled from manufacturer documentation and every computed figure is arithmetic you can redo. Our methodology page sets out exactly what we do instead, and where that leaves us weakest.
