A hose timer is a battery-powered valve that lives outdoors, on a pressurized line, through a whole summer. Two specifications tell you whether it will survive that: the pressure range it is rated for and how much water can get into it. Most consumer timers publish neither.

The pressure range is the spec to read
Most U.S. residential supply sits somewhere between 40 and 60 PSI. Against a published ceiling of 100 PSI that is comfortable. It is the other end of the range that decides whether a timer works at your particular faucet.
If you have ever had a timer that clicks but does not deliver water, this is usually why. And it is why a published range — rather than silence — is worth paying for.

One outlet, 5-100 PSI, IPX-5, AA alkalines and WeatherSense. The IPX-5 rating is the reason this is the pick: it is a published figure covering water jetted at the enclosure from any direction, which is exactly what a timer on a faucet gets from a sprinkler overspray or a downpour.
Running on AA cells rather than a proprietary pack is worth more than it sounds. A timer that dies in August is replaced from the kitchen drawer, not ordered.
Against it: Orbit publishes no warranty term for this model at all, only a 30-day return window. That is a strange omission on a product whose sibling carries two years.

2. Orbit B-hyve XD 2-outlet (24632) — two zones, one faucet
Every performance figure Orbit publishes for this timer is identical to the single. What you are buying is the second independently scheduled outlet and a published two-year limited warranty.
The case is practical. A lawn zone and a bed zone want different schedules and different run times. Doing that with two 1-outlet timers means a splitter, two bodies hanging off one faucet, two battery compartments and two pairings.
The omission to note is the ingress rating. Orbit rates the single at IPX-5 and describes this one only as having a "weather-resistant body" — a phrase with no test behind it. Mount it where it will not be hit by sprinkler overspray.
