What this is, and is not: we run no test lab and have not pushed this mower. What follows is every figure EGO publishes about the LM2135SP, converted into comparable units, with the blanks counted rather than filled.

Seven watt-hours a minute sits squarely inside the 6.0 to 9.7 band we computed across the four flagship 21-inch mowers on our brand comparison. Nothing about this machine's efficiency is unusual; what is unusual is how much energy EGO puts in the box.

The cut-height range is the real differentiator

One inch to four, over eight positions, is the widest published range in our registry and the reason this mower leads our warm-season grass page. Clemson Cooperative Extension publishes about 1 inch for centipedegrass in the January-to-April window and 2.5 to 4 inches for St. Augustinegrass; no other deck we hold specs for reaches both ends.

What the evidence says in its favor

• 420Wh in one pack. The Greenworks LM2108S ships 320Wh and the Toro 21356 324Wh; only the two-pack RYOBI and Kobalt kits carry more, and they carry it as two batteries rather than one.
• Three interchangeable blades rather than one blade and a mode switch, which is a genuinely different approach — see the mower blades guide.
• A published torque figure. Up to 7.0 ft-lbs is rare; most makers publish no torque at all, which makes cross-brand power claims unverifiable.
• Five-year tool warranty, the longest in our mower registry.

What is genuinely against it

• No published weight, at all. Greenworks publishes 75 lb for the LM2108S and 57.5 lb for the LM2054; Toro publishes 66 lb. EGO publishes nothing, so this mower cannot appear in our lightweight roundup even to be ranked last.
• No published acreage rating. Greenworks rates the LM2108S at half an acre and the LM2054 at a third; EGO leaves buyers to do the watt-hour arithmetic above.
• No published blade speed and no published recharge time on this page.
• The 60 minute claim carries no conditions. Grass height, deck mode and self-propel use all change it, and none is stated.
• Interchangeable blades mean more to store and sharpen — three blades on three schedules rather than one.

Where it sits against the other flagships

Read across that table and the shape of the EGO's offer becomes clear. It is not the most efficient deck — RYOBI draws 6.0 watt-hours a minute against its 7.0 — and it is not the most energy in a kit, because RYOBI ships 480Wh across two packs. What it is, is the most energy anyone puts in a single battery, combined with the only cut-height range that covers the full warm-season band and the longest tool warranty of the four.

The Select Cut system, and what it costs you

EGO publishes three interchangeable lower blades: mulching, high-lift bagging and extended runtime. That is a genuinely different design decision from the 4-in-1 decks Greenworks and RYOBI use, which run one blade and change behavior with a mode selector and a chute plate.

• What it buys: a blade geometry actually optimized for each job, rather than one compromise shape asked to do three things.
• What it costs: three blades to store, three to keep sharp, and a blade change whenever the job changes. Clemson publishes sharpening intervals by grass species — see when to sharpen and replace blades — and those intervals now apply per blade.
• What nobody publishes: a blade replacement interval, a blade thickness, or how much the extended-runtime blade actually extends runtime by. EGO names the blade and not its effect.

The self-propel range is an underrated spec

Who should buy it

Buy it for a warm-season lawn that needs both ends of the height range, for a yard around half to two-thirds of an acre where 420Wh in one pack avoids a mid-mow swap, or as the first tool on an EGO platform you intend to build out. Skip it if weight is your binding constraint, because you cannot even find out what it weighs, or if you want a published acreage rating to buy against — Greenworks gives you one.

The verdict, in one paragraph

The most energy anyone puts in a single mower battery, the only cut-height range that covers the full warm-season band, the longest tool warranty in our mower registry, and a blade system nobody else offers. Against that: no published weight, no published acreage rating, no published blade speed and no published recharge time — four blanks on a spec sheet where Greenworks leaves none.

What we cannot tell you

We have not used this mower. We cannot tell you how the drive bar feels, whether the height lever is stiff, how it folds, or whether 60 minutes survives contact with long October grass. EGO publishes no weight, no acreage rating, no blade speed and no recharge time, and states no conditions for its runtime claim.
