EGO 56V is the platform this site keeps recommending, and it is worth setting out in one place why. Ten tools in our registry run on one pack family, and the range spans a factor of sixteen in energy without ever changing battery.

The packs, converted
EGO does not publish watt-hours, so every figure below is advertised volts times amp-hours — the same convention we use for every brand, and about 10% optimistic for all of them.
The practical consequence is that pack size becomes a per-job decision rather than a per-tool one. A 2.5Ah on the trimmer, a 7.5Ah on the mower and four 10.0Ah in the rider are all the same battery in different capacities. The sizing method is in watt-hours explained.

The multi-head layer
Two of the ten tools above are not tools in the usual sense. The EA0800 edger and PSA1000 pole saw are attachments: no motor, no battery mount, no function without an EGO PH1400 or PH1420 power head. The ST1521S trimmer has a split carbon fiber shaft and doubles as that power head.
Get this right and it is the cheapest expansion route in cordless yard work; get it wrong and you have bought a shaft with a blade on the end and nothing to spin it. The economics are worked through in multi-head attachment systems.

A five-year tool term next to a three-year battery term is the manufacturer telling you which part it expects to fail. Greenworks warrants its 80V battery for four years, which is the one place a competitor beats EGO outright on paper.

Where the platform is weak
- Spec transparency. EGO publishes no weight for the LM2135SP, no runtime at all for the HT2410 hedge trimmer, and no acreage rating for anything.
- Torque instead of watts. EGO publishes 7.0 ft-lbs of cutting torque where Greenworks publishes motor wattage. Those do not convert.
- Kit packs sized for the claim. The ST1521S ships a 140Wh pack for a tool that draws 4.7Wh a minute. Thirty minutes is not a long session.
- Bare-tool defaults. Several of the best tools on the platform ship without a battery, which is fine on your fourth purchase and a surprise on your first.
What we cannot tell you
We own none of this equipment and have tested none of it. Pack longevity past the warranty term, real capacity retention, cold-weather behavior and how the multi-head coupling wears are all outside what EGO publishes and outside what we would guess at.
What the published figures support is narrower and still decisive: ten tools, one pack family, five pack sizes spanning 140Wh to 560Wh, and a rider that takes the same batteries as the blower.

What they don't
- EGO publishes torque (7.0 ft-lbs), not motor wattage, so it cannot be compared directly against Greenworks' 1500W figure
- The 7.5Ah pack that earns the runtime claim is also the expensive one to replace
your yard is under a quarter acre. You would be paying for 420Wh of headroom you will never discharge, and a 20 in push mower cuts the same grass.

56V x 2.5Ah = 140Wh. 30 minutes of published runtime from 140Wh is about 4.7Wh per minute -- roughly a quarter of what a blower on turbo burns.

- 0.095 in line, the heavier of the two common home gauges

What they don't
- Ships with the small 2.5Ah pack; 30 minutes is a modest published runtime
- EGO does not publish a weight for this configuration
you only edge a short driveway. An 8 in edger attachment on a power head you already own does that job better and costs a fraction.

280Wh (56V x 5.0Ah) over 300 published cuts = about 0.93Wh per cut. A useful way to size a pack: 100 cuts of firewood needs roughly 93Wh, so a 2.5Ah pack covers it with margin.
What the numbers favor
- Publishes work done (300 cuts on a stated material) rather than a vague runtime
- Standard 3/8 in pitch, 0.050 in gauge chain -- replacements are commodity items
- 18 in bar on a consumer cordless saw
- Runs on the same 56V packs as the mower, blower and trimmer
What they don't
- 14.5 lb with the battery fitted is heavy for extended overhead work
- The 300-cut figure is on a 4x4; hardwood rounds will be a fraction of it
your cutting is limbs under 6 in. An 18 in bar is more saw than that needs, and a 10 in pole saw keeps you off the ladder.

56V x 10.0Ah = 560Wh per pack. Four packs = 2,240Wh; six bays filled = 3,360Wh. Against the published 2 acres on four packs, that is roughly 1,120Wh per acre -- the number to size any electric riding mower against.
What the numbers favor
- Uses the identical 56V ARC Lithium packs as EGO's handheld tools -- the batteries are not stranded
- Six battery bays, so range is a purchase decision rather than a fixed limit
- 5-year warranty covering tool, battery AND charger
- 32 published LED lights, which matters more than it sounds for dusk mowing
What they don't
- Four 10.0Ah packs is a substantial share of the purchase price on its own
- EGO's published watt-hour figure for this configuration does not reconcile with 56V x 10.0Ah x 4; we publish our own arithmetic (2,240Wh) and show the working rather than repeat a number we cannot verify
your lot is under an acre. A 21 in walk-behind finishes a half acre in the time it takes to get a zero turn out of the shed, and costs a fifth as much.
