EGO LM2135SP vs Greenworks LM2108S

One of these ships 31% more energy. The other tells you 31% more about itself. That is genuinely the whole comparison.

We have not tested these units. Every spec on this page comes from the manufacturer's own documentation and is linked to it. Every computed figure is arithmetic you can redo. Prices are checked daily — last verified September 27, 2026. Here is exactly how we pick.

These are the two flagship 21 inch cordless mowers most likely to end up on the same shortlist, and both have their own review on this site. Put their spec sheets next to each other and the comparison resolves into one question: do you want more battery, or more information?

The short answer

EGO wins on energy: 420 nameplate watt-hours against 320, and a 60 minute runtime claim against 33. Greenworks wins on disclosure and on the battery warranty: it publishes blade speed, weight, a half-acre rating and a 40 minute recharge, and it covers the pack for 4 years where EGO covers it for 3. Big lawn, buy EGO. Want to check what you bought, buy Greenworks.

The energy gap, and what it costs to carry

EGO puts 31% more nameplate energy in the box. It also claims 82% more runtime. Those two numbers do not scale together, which tells you something about the machines.

The arithmetic — Watt-hours per minute of mowing
EGO: 56V x 7.5Ah = 420Wh
420 / 60 min = 7.0Wh per minute
Greenworks: 80V x 4.0Ah = 320Wh
320 / 33 min = 9.7Wh per minute
The Greenworks spends 39% more energy
per minute. It is also the only one of the
two that publishes a weight: 75 lb.

A heavier self-propelled machine drives a heavier machine. We cannot prove that is the whole explanation, because EGO publishes no weight to compare against — but 75 lb is the one hard number in the vicinity of the gap.

The half acre only one of them claims

Greenworks rates the LM2108S for up to half an acre. EGO rates the LM2135SP for nothing. That is not a small omission: acreage is the figure a buyer actually shops on, and the brand with more battery is the one that declines to state it.

The arithmetic — Energy per acre, from the one published rating
Greenworks: 320Wh rated to 1/2 acre
320 / 0.5 = 640Wh per acre
Apply that to EGO's 420Wh:
420 / 640 = 0.66 acre of implied coverage
That is OUR inference from a Greenworks
rating, not an EGO claim. EGO publishes none.
Greenworks' own two numbers do not sit easily together. It rates the mower to half an acre but claims only 33 minutes on the included pack. Both can be true only if the half acre assumes a second battery, which the page does not say. We have flagged that in our Greenworks review.

The warranty split, and which year is worth more

EGO covers the tool for 5 years and the pack for 3. Greenworks covers both for 4. Add them up and EGO looks ahead by a year. Look at which component fails and the ranking flips: a brushless motor in a sealed deck rarely dies in year four, and a lithium pack often begins to fade there.

Greenworks is the only brand in our registry whose battery warranty matches its tool warranty, and we think that is the more useful of the two five-year promises.

Who should buy the EGO

Lawns near or over half an acre, and anyone who expects the mower to be the first of four or five EGO tools. 420Wh is the largest included pack of any flagship walk-behind here, eight cut-height positions from 1 to 4 inches is the widest published range, and three interchangeable lower blades cover mulching, high-lift bagging and extended runtime.

Buy it knowing EGO publishes no weight, no charge time and no acreage rating for this machine.

Who should buy the Greenworks

Quarter to half acre, and anyone who would rather have a spec sheet than a slogan. It is the only mower in our registry publishing blade speed, weight, acreage and charge time on one page, the 40 minute recharge is the fastest here, and the 4-in-1 deck adds turbo leaf pickup on top of mulch, bag and side discharge.

Buy it knowing 320Wh is the least energy of the flagships, and that 75 lb is not light.

Deciding in three steps

  1. Measure the grass, not the lot. Under a quarter acre, both are more mower than you need.
  2. Between a quarter and a half acre, take Greenworks: it is rated for it and recharges in 40 minutes.
  3. Over half an acre, take EGO for the 420Wh, and accept that you are buying on a number the maker will not put an acreage against.

Both machines have full reviews here — the EGO LM2135SP and the Greenworks LM2108S — and the four-way flagship table is in the mower brand comparison. The platform-level version of this decision, which outlives either mower, is EGO vs Greenworks.

What we cannot tell you

We have not mowed with either machine. EGO publishes no weight, no charge time and no acreage rating, so three rows of the table above are one-sided. Neither maker publishes a decibel figure or a deck material. Neither states the grass conditions behind its runtime claim. And the 0.66 acre figure for the EGO is our inference from a Greenworks rating, not a claim either company makes.

Our arithmetic — Nameplate watt-hours
420Wh

56V x 7.5Ah = 420Wh, using EGO's advertised pack voltage.

What the numbers favor

  • 420Wh in the box -- the largest included pack of any flagship walk-behind on this page
  • Eight cut-height positions from 1 to 4 in, the widest published range here
  • Three interchangeable lower blades (mulching, high-lift bagging, extended runtime)
  • 5-year tool warranty, the longest published on this page

What they don't

  • EGO publishes torque (7.0 ft-lbs), not motor wattage, so it cannot be compared directly against Greenworks' 1500W figure
  • The 7.5Ah pack that earns the runtime claim is also the expensive one to replace
Skip this one if

your yard is under a quarter acre. You would be paying for 420Wh of headroom you will never discharge, and a 20 in push mower cuts the same grass.

Our arithmetic — Nameplate watt-hours
320Wh

80V x 4.0Ah = 320Wh, using Greenworks' advertised pack voltage.

What the numbers favor

  • 4-year battery warranty -- a year longer than EGO's 3-year, on the component that fails first
  • Publishes blade RPM, weight and acreage rating; the other two brands publish none of the three
  • 40-minute recharge on the included charger, the fastest published here
  • 4-in-1 deck adds turbo leaf pickup on top of mulch, bag and side discharge

What they don't

  • 320Wh included, the least of the three flagships -- and the 33-minute runtime claim reflects that
  • 75 lb is the only published weight here, and it is not light
Skip this one if

you want one battery to finish a half-acre without a swap. Greenworks rates the mower for 1/2 acre but claims only 33 minutes on the included pack; those two numbers only reconcile if you buy a second battery.

Common questions

Is the EGO LM2135SP better than the Greenworks LM2108S?
EGO ships more energy -- 420 nameplate watt-hours against 320 -- and a longer runtime claim, 60 minutes against 33. Greenworks publishes more: blade speed, weight, an acreage rating and a charge time, none of which EGO states. Buy EGO for headroom, Greenworks if you want to check the claims.
Which mower runs longer on one charge?
EGO, on the published claims: up to 60 minutes against Greenworks' 33. Per watt-hour the gap is narrower than it looks -- EGO spends about 7.0Wh per minute of mowing and Greenworks about 9.7Wh, because the Greenworks carries a heavier 75 lb machine.
How big a lawn will each one cut?
Greenworks publishes a rating of up to half an acre. EGO publishes no acreage rating at all for this mower, which is why our sizing pages use the Greenworks figure and not EGO's silence.
Which has the better warranty?
It depends which part you expect to fail. EGO gives 5 years on the tool and 3 on the battery; Greenworks gives 4 and 4. The battery is the component that wears out, so Greenworks' extra year sits where it matters and EGO's extra year does not.
How long does each take to recharge?
Greenworks publishes 40 minutes on the included charger. EGO publishes no charge time for this kit, so we cannot compare them.
Which is heavier?
Greenworks publishes 75 lb. EGO publishes no weight for the LM2135SP, so nobody outside EGO knows. That gap appears in every lightweight ranking on this site, and it is EGO's choice.
