Can you clear snow with a cordless leaf blower?
Sometimes, within limits nobody prints on the box. Here is what the published specifications actually support, and where the idea falls apart.

This is one of the most common seasonal questions in the category and one of the worst-answered, because the honest answer starts with an admission: not one manufacturer whose spec sheets we hold says anything about snow at all. Here is what their published figures do and do not support.
The short answer
Why dry snow moves and wet snow does not
A blower does exactly one thing: it accelerates air. Whether that shifts a material depends on the material's weight and on how strongly it is bonded to the surface underneath. Fresh dry snow is mostly air, sits loose and is about as movable as dry leaves. Wet snow has absorbed water, is heavier per unit volume and bonds to the surface as it partially melts and refreezes.
This is the same distinction that decides wet versus dry leaf clearing, taken to its extreme. And it is why the honest limit is a density limit that nobody measures rather than a depth limit you could look up.

From the manufacturers' own product pages, checked 3 September 2026. IPX4 describes protection against splashing water from any direction; it is not a cold-weather, snow or immersion rating.
The IPX4 line is the only piece of published data here that speaks to wet conditions at all, and it belongs to one tool. That is worth knowing precisely because it is so often assumed of the others.

The runtime cost, which is the real limit
Snow clearing, if it works at all, is full-output work. That puts you in the most expensive part of the discharge curve, and the arithmetic is unforgiving.
Add to that a caveat we cannot quantify: none of these manufacturers publishes a cold-weather derating figure, so the published runtimes are warm-condition figures. Plan on less and do not be surprised by it. The mode arithmetic is worked through in full in the blower runtime guide.

Where the idea genuinely works
- A dusting on a deck or path. Hard surface, shallow, dry: this is the case the tool handles well and where a shovel is more effort than it is worth.
- Clearing a car. Air does not scratch paint the way a brush can, and there is no bond to break on a vertical surface.
- Steps and awkward corners. Places a shovel or a snow blower cannot reach cleanly.
- Finishing after a shovel. Removing the last thin layer that would otherwise freeze into a sheet.
Where it stops working
- Wet or partly melted snow. Density and bonding both work against you and no amount of MPH in this category fixes it.
- Anything you would call deep. A blower has no auger; it cannot take a bite, only skim.
- Snow on grass or gravel. You will move the gravel and you will not move the snow.
- Refrozen or compacted snow. This is now a solid, and moving air does nothing to a solid.
- Long driveways. At full output you are working against the steepest part of the discharge curve on the coldest day of the year.

What we cannot tell you
We cannot tell you a snow depth, a snow density, a temperature floor or a runtime figure for winter use, because no manufacturer we cite publishes any of them and we have not tested any of these tools. Anyone who gives you a confident number for this is giving you a number they made up.
What we can tell you is the shape of the answer: dry and shallow on a hard surface, at roughly ten times the energy cost per minute of normal clearing, on tools that mostly carry no ingress rating at all. Judge your own conditions against that.

280Wh (56V x 5.0Ah) over the published 15-minute turbo runtime = about 18.7Wh per minute. On low, 280Wh over 150 minutes is about 1.9Wh/min -- turbo costs roughly 10x the energy per minute.
What the numbers favor
- Highest published CFM and MPH of any handheld here
- Publishes BOTH turbo and low runtimes, so the trade-off is visible instead of averaged away
- 4.6 lb bare -- the lightest published weight of the handhelds on this page
What they don't
- 15 minutes of turbo on a 5.0Ah pack is the real constraint, whatever the 90-minute average says
- Sold bare in most configurations; budget for a battery and charger
you are clearing a small lawn. You will run it at 260 CFM forever and never touch what you paid for.
